Objectives of the project/program:

Awaken and strenghen the students’ empathy, sensitivitiy, helpfulness.

Description of project/program:
he process of the voluntary program was not developed, so the program started spontaneously.
By that time the school hasn’t got a colleague who could have officially organised volunteer programmes ,therefore a class and a form-master has agreed to coordinate this activity.
Each class choose a coordinator from the coordinating class and also nominated a contact person  which enabled them to more or less manage the  flow of information. As a first step the coordinators visited the joining classes and after a short introduction and a short movie the initial interest was raised. The film had a great impact on them.
After this introduction and the great impact of the short film, the brainstorming was the first task: What could we offer to others?
The approaching Winter, Santa Claus and Christmas holiday was a great opportunity both for individual and group activities. The students could connect to the charitable week which was organised by Charitas Group of Szeged.  Teachers believed that without preparation  going to the hospitals, homeless people and disabled kids is not a good idea. However in  the company of Charitas they could participate in several activities. In addition, they went to several places with programs and gifts.
The most difficult was that they didn’t want to narrow the program for nor one grade, neither to have it as an obligation. But keeping contact with almost 900 students is also difficult.
Those groups who regularly go somewhere are doing it with the parental consent  and also writing reports of their activities. Official contact with the host locations also has been made. Host locations: nursing home, childrens home, temporary shelters for families.
At the end of the semester, the experiences of the first half year were processed with the participating children. All of them gave account empathy and touching of spiritual experiences. Without doubt everyone has a positive impact of selfless help. Some of them have expressed that their life and attitude has also changed.
The teachers believe that is important to make the children accustomed to selfless helpfulness. However the program includes a lot of extra work, so the most important designate a coordinator.
Financial sources:

There was no financial help. What is needed was created by the children for themselves: handmade gifts, donations, food and further supplies for the programs.
