Objectives of the project/program: 

The aim of the program is to improve and maintain the physical and mental well-being of long-term care patients with the help of volunteers.

Description of project/program: 

1) The recruitment, preparation, coordination and mentoring of the volunteers is done by the Foundation, the medical center provides the premises and receiving environment for the volunteers.  The recruited volunteers participate in a training of 16/24 hours. The 16-hours training givs general information about volunteering.  The 24-hours training divided into 2 parts: theoretical part (12 hours) about hospital volunteering and field trip (12 hours) in the chosen department. After the training a psychologist, a mental hygiene specialist or a supervisor talks to each volunteer to determine their abilities to fulfill this task. After that the Foundation enters into a contract with the volunteers  then based on their individual choice they go to the various departments of the medical center together with their coordinator who is provided by the Foundation. There are regular supervision and community-building opportunities for volunteers to help them elaborate their experiences in the hospital.
2) Activities: patient visits, conversations, readings, walking with patients, combing, playing board games.
3) Beneficiaries: patients of various departments of the clinical center, who feel less lonely and isolated thanks to the volunteers
